Who may enter: Anyone residing in Coos County.
From 7th to 12th grade (Including home schooled)
Topic Choices: (select one)
- Explain how conservation practices used by landowners (farmers, ranchers, timber holders) can benefit water quality in Coos County/Oregon.
- What Conservation practices used by landowners and/or the public in Coos County are utilized to protect soil and decrease erosion?
- How have farming, ranching, or timber land management practices changed over the last 100 years to protect the environment and water quality in Oregon or Coos County?
Deadline: For submitting essays is November 1, 2013 at 4:30pm.

Prizes will be awarded at the Coos SWCD’s Annual Meeting in December, time and place to be announced.
The First place winner will have his or her name engraved on a traveling plaque that will be placed in his/her school for one year. This contest “in memory of Tom and Dorothy Guerin” is sponsored by the Coos Soil & Water Conservation District.
